Two goals from Alex Jones helped to win the point, with the goal scorer saying Vale were unlucky to not come away with all three.

The draw meant that the Valiant stayed level on points with Peterborough, who occupy the final play-off spot.

After the game, First Team Coach Andy Smith, was very impressed with the players attitude to get the last minute equaliser.

He said: “The performance was very pleasing, the attitude was superb from first whistle to then end, collectively and I’m very happy.

“We defended and attacked as a unit and showed signs that we’re playing some good stuff and that last week was a little blip and we put things correct today, in the sense of not giving up and in the 93rd minute getting that goal.”

It was another week away from home with the rain hammering down and this time round they bounced back with a good performance, something Smith was delighted with.

He added: “It was vital we bounced back because last week the supporters didn’t deserve that at all and we came here and put on a performance.

“We deserved a point, but I’m a little angry in the way we conceded the goals, but that’s just me, I want to win.

“And right till the end the players gave everything, the hunger and desire throughout everyone was fantastic.”
