Ryan Taylor Reflects On Oxford United

This past weekend saw Vale come from behind to gain a point at home to Oxford United at Vale Park.

The Valiants were 2-0 down at half-time and seemed a shadow of their best, something which was put right in the second half.

Two early goals from Rigino Ciclia and Ryan Taylor gave Vale a chance to kick on and get all three points, but it wasn’t to be on the day.

The man who grabbed the equaliser from the spot was debutant Ryan Taylor, who gave his thoughts on the game.

He said: “It was a game of two halves. First half, I haven’t been here before I signed, but the lads said it was the worst first half they’ve had this season.

“In the second half we just seemed to click and when we got people in and around Cicilia and we could see the confidence in him and the team, because when it was going up to him it was sticking when in the first half it wasn’t.

“It was disappointing to go in 2-0 down, if we would have gone in 0-0 then we win the game.”

Ryan only signed for the club the day before the clash with Oxford and played his first game of football for a few months.

Taylor is aware of what is expected from the side and insisted that it wasn’t good enough in the first half from the team, but was delighted with the second half performance.

“The manager gave us a kick up the bum and we needed it and we got a justified draw in the end.

“Its early days, but I know the first half wasn’t good enough and second half it was a major improvement and the fans reacted to that.

“The difference of walking off at half time and then full time was like night and day and the fans rightly had a go at us at half time and then at the end they were cheering us with the draw.”
