Andy Smith Reflects On Sheffield United

This past weekend saw Vale visit Bramall Lane in Sky Bet League One action.

The Valiants were unable to repeat last weekend's away victory and were defeated 4-0 by the Blades.

It was a disappointing afternoon for Port Vale and First Team Coach Andy Smith echoed that feeling, but believes Vale will come back fighting.

He said: “It was very disappointing with the result, no one likes to get beat and the manner in which we conceded the goals, it was very disappointing.

“There is good character in the changing room and in the side, they believe in each other this team and you have your ups and downs.”

Sheffield United went into the break 2-0, scoring from two set-pieces and when asked on if he could put his finger on what went wrong in the game Andy replied:

“The set plays, the three goals we gave them and then we’re up against it and they’re a big club and in the manner in which we gave them goals.

“It was school boy defending and it was free headers and we should have cleared the balls, but that’s life, we will go again.

“The quicker the next game comes the better after a performance like that, I wouldn’t say we played bad it was just the manner we conceded them, we will have to correct that.”
