Port Vale recorded their first win in four league games against Fleetwood Town last weekend.
The win sent Vale straight back into the play-offs, where they have spent most of the season so far, before Peterborough won on the Sunday.
Vale came from a goal down to turn the game on its head and get all three points, thanks to goals from Rigino Cicilia and Alex Jones.
Both goals were created by Jerome Thomas on the left hand side and he believes the three points showed what good character him and his team mates have.
He said: “It was very important, we didn’t want a big gap to open up between us and the other teams, we wanted to stay in and around the play offs
“We’ve showed good character since the Bolton result, we were very disappointed that day and the manager made that point clear.
“We looked at a few videos to see our mistakes and the good things we did but the most important thing was we learned form the mistakes and corrected them.”
Vale are just one point off the top six as things stand and they have a great chance to jump back in this weekend against Charlton Athletic.
League One is very much open this season, with just six points separating fifth place to seventeenth.
Thomas added: “The league is very inconsistent, in the same sense as the Championship, anyone can beat anyone.
“It’s a case of not panicking when you do lose and not getting too excited when you do win.
“I think any team that can put a run of wins together will do well and you will start seeing gaps open up over the next few months.”
