O’Connor Aiming For Strong Finish To Season

Port Vale midfielder Michael O’Connor admits it’s been a frustrating season for him so far but says he is aiming to be a regular fixture in the team between now and May.

The 28-year-old was out of action for a large chunk of the start of the campaign with a knee injury and then picked up a knock in the warm-up at Wigan in January.

But he returned to Rob Page’s starting line-up for Friday night’s win over Southend United and had a hand in each of the Valiants’ three goals.

Speaking to Valiant PlayerHD ahead of tonight’s clash with Oldham Athletic, the Northern Irishman discussed his hopes for the rest of 2015/16.

“That’s the aim for me, between now and the end of the season to get as many games as possible,” he said.

“I think I played near enough every game last year so it’s been frustrating for me but I need to get my head down, stay fit and when I get the chance, take it.”
