Last Time We Met - Newcastle Town

Newcastle Town 0-3 Port Vale

Vale began their pre-season campaign in 2015 with the traditional fixture at the Aspire Stadium against Newcastle Town and they were rarely troubled by the Evo-Stik League One outfit.

The Valiants led 2-0 at the interval thanks to goals from Colin Daniel and Michael Brown, after having the majority of possession.

Daniel put the Vale ahead on 17 minutes when he got on the end of a cross from Ben Purkiss. His downward header bounced up in front of goal before going in via the inside of the post.

Vale doubled their lead in the 28th minute after Enoch Andoh had been brought down 25 yards from goal. Michael Brown took the resulting free-kick, which took a slight deflection on its way into the net.

In the second half, Vale continued to have most of the possession and added a third goal int he 79th minute when a lean-looking Achille Campion rose to meet a cross from the right by Adam Yates, steering his header into the top corner with the 'keeper well beaten.

All in all it was a satisfying performance for the Vale, who got their preparations underway in a fine manner.
