Have a read of what the manager had to say after the Newcastle Town game.
Saturday’s 4-0 win against Newcastle Town was the first victory under the Bruno Ribeiro regime.
The new manager experimented with his team, fielding two sides either half, which consisted of several new signings made under Bruno.
He also tested two different formations in the game, in order to find out the best system that will suit his side.
Two goals from Anton Forrester and strikes by Ryan Lloyd and JJ Hooper in the second half helped to secure the win.
Although it wasn’t perfection for Ribeiro, he was still delighted with the performance and hopes his side can continue to improve.
He said: “We played two systems in the game. In the first half we played 4-3-3 and in the second half 4-4-2, playing with two strikers was obviously different than playing with one.
“But, I was very happy with the two systems and I will continue to look at them and then I will decide which one we go with, but I was very happy and in the first half; we could have scored 2 or 3 goals also.
“Last week has been very hard for everyone, so the win ensure it has been a good day. The play was slow sometimes, but that is normal for the first game, they are tired, but again it is the first game, it’s normal.
“We need to prepare as best as we can so that we have a good start to the new season and maybe we can get a couple more in soon, but we will see, at the moment I’m very happy with the players that we have and right now it’s important that we keep working to improve.”
