Page Disappointed At Postponement

Port Vale boss Rob Page has expressed his disappointment at the postponement of tonight’s fixture against Swindon Town.

Referee Peter Bankes assessed the Vale Park playing surface earlier and decided to call off the match based on the heavy rainfall overnight and the poor weather forecast for the rest of the day.

Speaking to port-vale.co.uk, the manager said it’s frustrating the Valiants can’t attempt to build on their impressive home form this evening.

“We’re all very disappointed that the game has been postponed for a second time,” he commented.

“We all wanted to try and continue our excellent home form so far and, after back to back wins, our confidence is sky high at the moment.

“Unfortunately, though, we can’t control the weather and we’ll have to wait and see when the fixture will be rearranged.”

Vale will travel to London on Sunday to take on Millwall at The Den and Page said attention must now turn to the Lions.

“Although we’re extremely disappointed about the game being called off, we’ve got a game to look forward to now against Millwall,” he added.

“One positive is that it gives the players more time to recover ahead of that game on Sunday and we’ll be going there with every confidence that we can get the win.”
