Jerome Thomas Talks Southend

Take a look at what the winger had to say ahead of this weekends clash.

Following a disappointing result midweek in the EFL Cup, Vale return to league action this weekend against Southend United.

The Valiants began the season with a 0-0 draw away at Bradford, something they will be looking to build on against Southend.

It will be the first competitive fixture back at Vale Park for the side and the first for the manager Bruno Ribeiro and the new signings this summer.

One of those new faces is winger Jerome Thomas, who joined as a free agent, following his release from Rotherham United.

Thomas played just 45 minutes midweek and believes that the players should focus on the positive result against Bradford and not disappointment against Carlisle.

He said: “We’re disappointed as expected and as we should be.

“We’re going to watch the first 45 minutes as a squad and the manager is going to put his points across and I’m sure single some people out for some harsh realities but we need to hear it.

“We need to take it on board and put it to bed and focus on the next game at home to Southend.

“I think we should focus more on the Bradford game and take that with us and how we played in that game.

“We need to take into Saturday and put more of a stamp on how we want to play and put it into effect come Saturday.”
