Tuesday night, Port Vale continued their unbeaten start to the league, picking up all three points against Rochdale.
The clash saw Bruno Ribeiro give a debut to striker Alex Jones, who came off the bench late on in the second half.
The striker made an immediate impact, winning a penalty with his first touch of the ball and in injury time almost making it 2-0, but it just wasn’t to be.
Currently on loan from Championship side Birmingham City, Jones made his Football League debut.
After the final whistle Alex spoke to Valiant PlayerHD and spoke of his delight to get on to the pitch finally at Vale Park.
He said: I’ve been waiting a few weeks and I was itching to come on Saturday but circumstances dictated I couldn’t come on but it was great to finally get out there.
“It was my first touch when I won the penalty and I wanted to take it, but there’s a list in the changing room and JJ (Hooper) wanted to take it so I wasn’t going to take it off him.
“It’s brilliant here, ever since I walked through the door the manager and the boys have been top class and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.”
