Page Furious With ‘Embarrassing’ Second Half Performance

Port Vale manager Rob Page was furious with what he described as ‘an embarrassing’ second half performance at Chesterfield.

The Valiants went in 1-0 up at half time after a dominant 45 minutes and a poacher’s goal by Ajay Leitch-Smith.

But four Spireites strikes after the break saw the home side claim the points at the Proact Stadium and afterwards Page voiced his frustration.

“It was an embarrassing second half performance,” he said. “It was a brilliant first half, a great performance, created chances and we should have been two or three up before we even got the goal.

“We finally get the goal, we were in total control of the game, I gave them warning signs that at half time he was going to change it.

“He’s going to make changes, he’s got to, they got booed off at half time, we were in total domination. Start fast, don’t concede in the first ten or fifteen minutes.

“We concede after a minute. One-all and then they are four of the worst goals I have ever seen conceded. So back to work again and get on with it and address it.”
