Club’s Work Acknowledged By Royal British Legion

Port Vale Football Club has received a certificate of appreciation from the Royal British Legion to acknowledge the excellent it work it has carried out in support of the Poppy Appeal.

The Club held its annual collection at the Shrewsbury Town fixture in October and hosted a remembrance ceremony prior to the FA Cup tie with Maidenhead United in November.

A letter signed by Ray Sheppard, Head of the Poppy Appeal, thanked everyone at Port Vale for their efforts.

An extract of the letter reads: “The success of the Legion’s annual Appeal depends entirely upon the efforts of our voluntary Organisers and helpers.

“The Legion’s ability to sustain the facilities for rehabilitation, training, employment, welfare and benevolence which it has created for the benefit of ex-service people, widows and families also depends solely on those efforts.

“Your endeavours have been the means of bringing essential aid and comfort to those in need.

“I am quite sure that, could those assisted know directly of your outstanding contributions to this work they would wish to be associated with this expression of our deepest gratitude for all you have done.

“The support you have given throughout the years has been a source of inspiration and encouragement.”
