Page: 'Pride Is The Overriding Emotion'

Port Vale manager Rob Page said pride was the overriding emotion following his side's win over Wigan Athletic.

Uche Ikpeazu scored the decisive goal at Vale Park after the Latics had levelled in the second half.

Man-of-the-match Anthony Grant and Louis Dodds had given the Valiants a two goal lead prior to that.

Speaking to Valiant PlayerHD after the match, Page admitted it was a rollercoaster of an afternoon.

"It was a rollercoaster of emotions," he commented. "I'm really, really pleased with the way we started the game."

"Compliments to the lads that they had to change their formation from a 3-5-2 to a 4-4-2 and change the personnel after 35 ot 40 minutes.

"I thought we controlled the game in large spells. Understandably with the changes they made again second half they put us under a bit of pressure.

"I watched them last week against Chesterfield and I knew they would keep going to the death because they did last week.

"Their fans were shouting 3-2. They got the right scoreline but not in their favour.

"I'm really proud, really proud. That's the emotion I'm feeling at the minute because the lads had to dig in and they more than did that."
