Port Vale will kick-off their 2015/16 pre-season with the annual trip to face local non-league side Newcastle Town.
Newcastle Town Football ClubName:
Founded: 1964
Stadium: Lyme Valley Stadium
Date of match: Saturday 11th July, kick-off 2pm
The Castle currently compete in the Northern Premier League First Division South and finished third in the table last season, missing out on promotion in the play-offs.
Their ground, the Aspire Stadium, is located on Buckmaster Avenue in Clayton, just five miles from Vale Park.
Last season’s fixture between the sides ended in a 6-0 win for the Valiants as Chris Lines, Colin Daniel, Ryan Lloyd (2), Ben Williamson and trialist Javan Vidal all scored.
There will be a familiar face in Newcastle’s dugout for Vale’s visit - the club’s director of football and first team assistant manager, Robin Van der Laan, made over 175 league appearances for the Valiants in a four-year stint in Burslem during the early 1990s.
The midfielder was part of the sides which won the Football League Trophy in 1993 and finished as runners-up in the old Second Division in 1994.
