Port Vale will take a trip to Greater Manchester in pre-season when they visit non-league side Altrincham.
Altrincham Football ClubName:
Founded: 1891
Stadium: Moss Lane
Manager: Lee Sinnott
Date of match: Saturday 1st August, Kick-off 3pm
Altrincham currently plays in the Conference Premier and finished last season in 17th place.
The club, which has a proud history of FA Cup giant-killings – including wins over the likes of Blackpool, Birmingham City and Wigan Athletic – is based at Moss Lane Stadium.
Former Port Vale boss Lee Sinnott is currently in charge of Altrincham, nicknamed the Robins or ‘Alty’, and led the club to promotion from the Conference North via the play-offs in 2014.
Sinnott spent just over a year as the Valiants’ manager before he left the club in 2009 and was appointed as Bradford Park Avenue boss.
Vale and Altrincham have only ever faced each other competitively once, in the 1992/93 FA Cup. The Valiants emerged as 4-1 winners at Moss Lane with Peter Swan, Martin Foyle, Robin Van der Laan and Ian Taylor getting the goals.
