Manager Speaks to Valiant Player After Oakwell Loss
- Vale were beaten 2-1 by Barnsley in Yorkshire.
- The Tykes scored two quick-fire goals either side of half time.
- Colin Daniel pulled one back but it wasn't enough for the Valiants.
Port Vale boss Rob Page was frustrated with the manner and timing of the goals his side conceded against Barnsley.
Chris Neal scored an own goal just before half time and Ben Pearson netted minutes after the break for the hosts, leaving the Valiants with a mountain to climb.
Colin Daniel pulled one back for Vale late on but, despite their best attempts, Page’s side couldn’t find an equaliser.
Speaking to Valiant Player, the 40-year-old was clearly disappointed by the way in which his side lost the game against the Tykes at Oakwell.
“It was bitterly disappointing,” he said. “Like I said, both sides of the half and we addressed it at half time, I said ‘go out and start fast’.”
“But within a minute we’re two goals down and you can’t come to places like this and gift teams goals like that because there’s only going to be one outcome.”
