Page: ‘Long Week Has Been Beneficial’

Port Vale boss Rob Page says his players have made the most of the long week of preparation in the lead up to their FA Cup clash with Exeter City.

The Valiants had a very busy November, playing six games in total, including three in a six-day spell.

They now head to St James’ Park to take on the Grecians in the second round of the FA Cup having had an uninterrupted week of training.

Speaking to Valiant PlayerHD ahead of the clash, Page admitted the rest and recuperation has been very beneficial.

“We’ve needed it, it’s come at a great time for us,” he said. “Because of the amount of games we’ve played in quick succession this has been a welcome break.

“We’ve used it to the best of our ability to capitalize on getting the rest into them as much as the work.

“We have been on the pitches but have toned it down considerably. We’ve made the most of the time we’ve got and hopefully we’ll see the benefits at the weekend.”
