Foley: 'It Was Pure Relief'

Sam Foley has described the pure relief at seeing his penalty hit the back of the net to bring Port Vale level in the last minute of stoppage time against Swindon Town.

The Valiants were awarded the spot kick after the referee blew up for handball in the box and the 28-year-old stepped up coolly to take on the responsibility.

He made no mistake with the finish, waiting for Robins goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux to flinch before slotting the ball home calmly.

Speaking to Valiant PlayerHD after the match, Foley discussed how he felt after the moment had passed.

"I would say it was pure relief because I don't think I celebrated," he said. "I don't even know what I did, I think I jogged over here somewhere."

He continued: "But yes just relief and it's a reflection of the hard work the lads have done really, me scoring it is irrelevant, it's the point that's the most important thing."
