Vale Boss Talks Cod Army Defeat

Port Vale interim manager Rob Page was proud of his side’s performance against Fleetwood Town despite the fact they lost 1-0.

Stephen Dobbie scored a second half penalty to win the match for Graham Alexander’s side after substitute David Ball was fouled in the box.

Vale striker Jordan Slew was sent off just before half time following an off-the-ball incident involving Danny Andrew meaning the visitors played most of the game with ten men.

The resilience shown by his players following the red card impressed Page, who explained his side’s game plan while speaking exclusively to Valiants Player.

“I was extremely proud of the effort they put in,” he said.

“When you come to places like this you know you’re in for a tough game and it was a similar set up to what we had against Bradford.

“We wanted to frustrate them into playing risky passes, intercepting and catching them on the break a little bit.”
