Jennison Myrie-Williams will not need any motivating this weekend

Winger just wants to improve with each game

Winger Jennison Myrie-Williams says he will have no problems in motivating himself if selected for Vale’s final match of the season this weekend.

Val travel to Peterborough for their final fixture – a game in which nothing is at stake in terms of promotion etc, except Micky Adams will be demanding a strong finish to the season.

Myrie-Williams says: “It is very different to last season, but you have got to do whatever gets you up for a game and for me personally, it doesn’t take much to get me up for a game.

“I am just looking forward to playing football, getting the chance to play and hopefully the lads will go out and play to the best of their ability in the last game of the season.

“People are going out there with things to prove, and everybody has got a reason to play well.

“We have not won away for a while now and we need to go into the game with a positive frame of mind and try to get the three points.

“I may have ten goals to my name this season, but I am never happy, I always want more and I always want to do better.

“That probably keeps me a bit hungry and keeps me working hard each day, so I am not happy just to reach double figures, I always want more.

“Some people would say it is an acceptable return, some people would say it is not, but I am not really happy with just ten goals.

“But I am just happy to be playing football and during the last two years at Port Vale I have played a lot of football and I have scored a good amount of goals and I am looking forward to the future.”

The Vale players got a good reception following their final home game of the season last Friday night – for some it will have been a goodbye, but for Myrie-Williams?

“It was nice for me to thank the fans for all they have done for me over the past two years. “They accepted me and they have made me feel at home here, which I have not had for a long time, so it was good to thank the fans.

“Nothing has been decided yet, but I would like to stay. There are a lot of variables that would happen for me to stay, so we will have to see what happens.”
