Page Happy To Progress

Newly appointed Assistant Manager, Rob Page, feels his new job role is a progression to his development in football coaching and hopes that it will give him even more experience to take with him when he feels ready to progress further.

Page spoke to the press yesterday, and said:

“I think at some point, I would like to be a manager. When I took over short term from the gaffer while he was having his hip replacement, I loved every minute of it, the highs and the lows.

“Having been through that some people would say I’m mad but I loved it, and to be there barking orders is fantastic, and this is the next step in my progression.”

Page, who is also spending time with the Welsh under-21s set up while at Vale, feels that there is no better manager he can gain experience from than Micky Adams.

“When you’re standing shoulder to shoulder with a manager who has been in the premiership and managed in every division like Micky Adams, you can’t help but learn something, and I’m learning everyday which is great.” says Page.

When the Valiants travel the short distance to Newcastle Town this Saturday (12th Jul, kick-off 2pm) for their first pre-season friendly he promises that all players will have a run out during the game. This will help the players gain match fitness for the 9th Aug, when the lads start the season off with a local derby against Walsall.
