After 2 weeks back in pre-season, Adam Yates, believes the glow coming out of the changing room at Vale Park is down to Micky Adams’ grueling regime.
The right-back speaking to the local press, said: -
“What happens during pre-season in my opinion is that the manager makes us bond together with the physical sessions. At first we seem to dig in and it’s almost us v him for a number of weeks. He then integrates back in with us, which makes it us and him v everyone else, which has certainly worked for the past 5 seasons and undoubtedly it will again.”
Adam feels the players that have been at the Vale for a number of years; help with the amazing team spirit at the club, due to the camaraderie between the old guard.
“We’ve got a fantastic team spirit here. I think if you were to speak to any of the lads that have been at the club the last 5 years they will tell you that this dressing room is probably one of the best team atmospheres they will have ever experienced.
“We have a core of players that have been here this whole time and we gain a lot of points through that because we dig in together.” He said.
Finally, the full back feels that the bookies are wrong to put the club in a relegation battle but admits that no-one at the club is really bothered what they say. He said:
“It doesn’t matter what the bookies think, I feel that with the players we have bought in already and the players we are going to be bringing in, we will be able to have a good go at the league again this year.”
You will be able to see Adam and the rest of the squad including a number of trialists in action at Newcastle Town tomorrow (Saturday), kick-off 2pm.
