Winger adapting his game

Myrie-Williams trying to concentrate on defensive duties

Vale take on Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend in the fourth round of the FA Cup and winger Jennison Myrie-Williams is hoping he will be in the starting line-up.

If, however, he isn’t selected the start the game he is willing to be patient for the good of the team and has backed manager Micky Adams to make the right decisions.

He said: “It is good for the club to be involves in the FA Cup as far as possible – it brings good turnover for the club and it is good for the players to play against good opposition that you wouldn’t usually play against in the League.

“The main thing a player like me has to learn is that it is a team game and sometimes you have got to things that you are not particularly happy about.

“I am working hard on my game, I am working hard on trying to help my team mates defensively but I believe it is going quite well. I am quite happy – it can always be better but I am going in the right direction.

The player hasn’t always been a regular this season, sometimes starting and other times having to bide his time on the bench, but he is happy the manager is doing it for the right reasons.

He says: “I think the good managers adapt to each game they are playing so whatever decision he feels is best for the team, I think we all ought to stick by that.

“We have a good team spirit here so it doesn’t take players long to gel and get in with us. Joe (Davis) has come back and done brilliantly and Jack (Grimmer) loos a good player as well, so I am looking forward to playing more games with them as well.”
