Vale will be the underdogs, but that suits Mark Grew
Mark Grew says he still gets excited with the FA Cup and he is really looking forward to the challenge this weekend when Vale take on Brighton & Hove Albion.
“As soon as the whistle went against Oldham on Saturday we started to think about Brighton and you look back through your careers when you have played in the big games. He said:
“For me, anybody who doesn’t get excited about playing in the fourth round of the FA Cup shouldn’t be playing as far as I am concerned.
“I am looking forward to it, all the staff are looking forward to it and we have worked hard to get his far.
“We will be the underdogs on Saturday, which is unusual because we have always been favourites and now it comes to Saturday where we are the underdogs.
“I like being the underdogs to be honest because I have had that a few times in my career and you want to prove to yourself that you can compete against a Championship side against Championship players.”
Although vale have no idea of the strength of the side Brighton are likely to field, they know they are not in for an easy ride.
But they have prepared well all week and have done their homework on the way Saturday’s visitors usually line up and will be ready for the challenge.
Grew says: “We have had them watched a couple of times and on Saturday against Derby, although they lost they had a few chances and reports coming back saying it was a good even game and Derby are going well at the moment.
“We have gone through the team and we are not one hundred per cent sure how they will come on Saturday, because he has changed it for the Cup games so we will have to wait to see on Saturday how strong he is going to come.
“But whoever he puts in, they are Championship players so we will be up against it. We know it is going to be tough, they are one of the top ten and they are going along quite nicely.”
