New loan signing

Flo Cuvelier joins until the end of the season.

After much speculation in recent days, Vale have finally completed the loan signing of Flo Cuvelier from Sheffield United, joining the club until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old Belgian began his career with Portsmouth before joining Stoke City in July 2010, where he spent the next three years.

During that period he enjoyed two loan spells at Walsall and another with Peterborough before signing for the Blades in September last year.

Up to now he has scored 7 goals in 49 appearances and would certainly do a job for Vale as they aim for a play-off spot come May.

Flo put pen to paper early this afternoon and will be eligible for selection for Saturday’s home game against Oldham Athletic.

He will also be eligible for Vale's fourth round FA Cup tie against Brighton & Hove Albion next weekend.

“We have done a deal with Sheffield United this morning and we have tied him up until the end of the season. Micky Adams said:

“We all saw his ability at Walsall and that’s when he first came on the radar, not necessarily when he played for Stoke Reserves, but certainly at Walsall he had an impact on them.

“He has got goo ability and he can handle the ball, but has got to get himself in the side first of all. He is up for the challenge and he wants to do well.

“He has had very little football at Sheffield United so if there is one worry it is that. He might need four or five games to get himself up to full speed.

“We can’t afford four or five games, we need him to hit the ground running if he possibly can, but until he plays we won’t know.”

The manager revealed he is looking to add a couple more new faces to the squad during the current transfer window, but they will be players with limited experience.

He added: “We would like to add another couple to supplement the squad and I have to say they will probably be youngsters out of a Premier League side, so people with very little experience in the Football League and who are reasonably cheap.”
