Vale will have to bide their time at Deepdale
Vale take on Preston North End at Deepdale this afternoon and will be hoping to avenge their two-nil home defeat to Simon Grayson’s side towards the end of November.
That defeat is still fresh in the minds of Micky Adams and the players, but they know Preston will have to adopt different tactics on home soil.
With a man sent off and a goal in front, the Lilywhites frustrated Vale on at Vale Park, but in front of their own fans they will be expected to attack.
Louis Dodds will be hoping to keep his place in the side after an eye-catching performance and a nicely taken goal against Rotherham United on Sunday.
He said: “We have to play different away from home anyway so we might have to soak up a bit of pressure and go for the counter-attack.
“It is going to be an exciting game and it is one everyone is looking forward to.”
Vale know they will probably have to soak up the pressure as the home supporters demand their side attack the Valiants, but Vale will be drilled they have to be patient and wait for opportunities at the of the end of the pitch.
Dodds continued: “We don’t have to go and start the game at one hundred miles an hour and try and get the goal really early, so I think we might be a bit more patient and hopefully we can go and do a job.”
