Boss says he needs two players

A win against Argyle may possibly provide funding

Micky Adams hasn’t ruled out bring players in during the January transfer window, but a lot might depend on Sunday’s result against Plymouth Argyle.

Both sides will know their next potential opponents ahead of the game as the draw for the fourth round will take place at 2.00pm on Sunday

A Vale win on would potentially set up a big earner for the club and the Vale boss is hoping that if that is the case, the chairman may release funds to bring in a couple of players.

He said: “2013 has been fantastic and now we are in 2014, are we quite good enough to get where we want to go and that is into the play-offs.

“I don’t think we are good enough for automatic promotion, let’s be brutally honest about that, but play-off – we are not that far away, but are we really good enough to get in there?

“I think, personally, we might need a couple of additions to strengthen the squad, but only time will tell on that one.

“I never shout from the rooftops about anything, but if we are to have an assault on the play-offs we may need a couple of players, and when I say a couple of players I am talking about players that will make a difference, not just bringing in players just to supplement the squad.

“We are a little bit light at the moment in terms of injuries and suspensions, but as we have seen at Preston, whoever comes in always puts a full shift in.”
