Striker looking to keep his place for Saturday

Striker Ben Williamson is hoping to keep his place in the starting line-up after coming on against Gilingham last weekend and playing his part in a Vale revival that almost saw the lads snatch a point.

With two home games coming up in the space of a few days, he knows how important it is to start to get points on the board once again.

Vale will be looking to avenge the defeat at the County Ground earlier in the season, but they have tended to do better on home soil so far this season.

After the Gillingham game manager Micky Adams suggested he is pondering changes to the starting eleven for the visit of Swindon and Williamson has his fingers crossed he can start, but more importantly, Vale can get back to winning ways after two defeats.

He says: “We have got a good recent run of form here at home and hopefully we can continue that on Saturday.

“The game at Swindon was a really tough one and we would be very disappointed if we did that again, but come Saturday we won’t be doing that again, we will give them a good game.

“We want to start getting some points on the board now. Obviously that loss at the weekend was a bit of a backwards step but hopefully we can move on on Saturday and try get the points and start winning some games.”
