Assistant boss sees no reason why Vale can't go on a run
Mark Grew says Vale can pick themselves up after two straight defeats and get right on track if they can put a couple of good results together.
The home form has been good in the league at Vale Park and he sees no reason why that can’t continue, and if it does Vale can go on another good run.
He said: “It wasn’t only the manager who was disappointed at the performance at Gillingham at the weekend, all of the backroom staff felt the same.
“We can only feel sorry for the supporters who braved the weather conditions down there and were given nothing to shout about until late on in the game.
“We have been disappointed with our away form, but obviously if we can win two or three games on the bounce then it will put us straight back in there.
“We have got a couple of game in hand on one or two teams, so it is important we try and win those games, but the first thing is to get to fifty points then have a look at it afterwards.
“It is ironic this year with us winning our home games but not away from home – if we could get them both right we would probably have been promoted by now.
We knew that this season we would be going to better places and playing against better teams and it is going to be more difficult to win away from home.
“That makes it more important to win at home to make sure we put points on the. I must admit board, but it is frustrating at the moment because we have conceded goals that we don’t like conceding.”
