But Grew says it is all about what Vale do
Vale take on a fresh Colchester United here at Vale Park this evening hoping to get back to winning ways after three consecutive defeats in which Vale nine goals were conceded.
January and Vale Assistant Manager Mark Grew isn’t sure how that will affect them.thColchester have been hit hard by the recent inclement weather and haven’t played a game since winning at Carlisle on 18
“It can work two ways, they will either be as fresh as daisies or rusty and we hope it will be the latter one, but it is all about what we do tonight. He said:
“We have sent people to their last three games and every on has been called off, so we haven’t got as much information on them as we would have liked.
“But we know the players and know a little bit about their formation because he does change it. We have got all the information on their last game.
“They had six or seven players who started against us when we met earlier in the season, so we have got all of the information on their players, but again it is all about what we do, not what Colchester do.
“The gaffer has given people enough chances and he was determined after the match on Saturday – we had a meeting and he said ‘we have got to make changes’.
“He says we have got to freshen it up and make changes and show people we mean business and I think with the team he selects for tonight’s game he will show them just that.
“While we are losing games people are winning ad catching up on us and the gap is starting to close already.
“Thirty nine points is nowhere near enough to keep you in this league, so we know we have got to get more points on the board as soon as we can.
“Gillingham have come with a couple of good results and all of a sudden they have caught up. We are not looking over our shoulders.
“We know if we can get the points on the board we will be okay, but we are not taking anything for granted.
“We have got a good bunch of lads, but when you lose games confidence goes away, you win games and the confidence comes flooding back.
“I am sure if we can get the right result tonight we can go into the game at Shrewsbury on Saturday really looking forward to it.”
