Trio Face The Media At Vale Park
Port Vale manager Rob Page, striker Tom Pope and goalkeeper Chris Neal faced the press this afternoon and were quizzed on a range of topics.
The trio discussed issues including the upcoming busy Christmas period, comeback from injury and the high level of competition in the Valiants’ squad.
Here’s what they had to say…
Rob Page On Midfield Options
“We don’t dwell on it too much; I’ve always said that there’s good enough players within the squad to go and give a good account of themselves.
“It’s an opportunity now to go and get the jersey and I think I’ve proved what I’m like, if someone goes in and gives a good account of themselves and we get a positive result then they’ve earned the right to have another go.
“So it’s an opportunity for someone to go in and prove their worth.”
Tom Pope On Recovery From Injury
“It’s just light work at the minute so although it’s hard work it’s nothing too strenuous on the knee.
“I think we’ll probably know a bit more once we start my light jogging, seeing how it feels and reacts to that but at the minute the physio is happy with it, I’m happy with it.
“We will continue to do plenty of bike and weights and what have you in the mean time.”
Chris Neal On Christmas Period
“It’s an important time of the year for everyone; there are a lot of fixtures coming up so there are a lot of points at stake over the next three or four weeks.
“It is one game at a time but we will be looking to pick up quite a few points over Christmas and hopefully hit the New Year running.
“Getting into January and February time they are important times of the season so we’re going to get our head down, knuckle down over Christmas and see where we go from there.”
