Winger hoping to earn a contract
Rob Taylor has missed much of the season through injury, but has been back in the fold for the last two games and it has come as somewhat of a relief to him.
Like a lot of other players, he is out of contract in the summer and he feels he has a lot to prove over the next month and hopes to be given the opportunity to earn himself a new deal.
He said: “Touch wood, it has been pretty god for the past two weeks since I came back to training. When you have been out for so long you are a bit tentative when you first come back, but it has been all good.
It has been a nightmare. They do say that during your career you do often have a season where you can’t get going and after last year of playing through a lot of pain and not being the same player I was hoping to come back fighting and having a really good season.
“I got back later than I should have, around Christmas time, and I just started to get fit, get some goals and get some assists and then I tore my thigh.
”It has been tough because it should have only been a two or three week injury and it has ended up being three months, but I think that is solely down to coming back to early and pushing myself too hard.
“When you are out of contract all you need to do is to get back playing and I probably pushed it too hard at times.
“Any player will tell you that you need a good pre-season, and I haven’t had one, so doing all the running on your own and slugging it out on your own is difficult, but I managed to get myself back performance-wise and fitness-wise, but again it has been difficult because I have had another injury.

“I will be looking to try to get involved during the last six games. A lot of people are out of contract so you are playing to earn a contract for next year.”
