Midfielder says extra time training will be put to good use
Anthony Griffith was disappointed in losing the game at Swindon at the weekend, especially as it looked at one point Vale had got themselves back in the game and were looking like they may pick up a point.
But with just over a week from that game to the next, he says the players will be doing all they can to work on things in training this week and put the extra time they have to good use.
The midfielder said: “We did remarkably well to get the goals to get us back in the game. The lads kept on fighting and kept the belief going and it was disappointing to see them hit us on the break when we were pushing forward for an equaliser.
“We haven’t got a game until Monday this week and we have to use the time well to work on things after that disappointing result at Swindon.
“I am sure the manager has got a lot of plans and things to work on this week. It will be good to get the group together and work hard and also take the time you can to relax.
“This is a rare time when you get a full week and a couple of extra days to do things on the training pitch and perhaps to stay behind and do a bit extra, which I am sure the lads will do.
“We have a Cup match next Monday, but our main priorities are to stay in the league. We want to get as high as we can in the league and then push on from there, try to get our points tally up.”
