DODDS' TRIBUTE TO HALDANE

Evening held on Lewis' behalf was a huge success

Louis Dodds paid tribute to former team mate Lewis Haldane earlier today, after the evening held on the former Vale player’s behalf was deemed a huge success.

Most of the first team squad were in attendance, as were a large number of supporters, which in itself shows how popular Lewis still is and it proved to be a very emotional night for the lad himself.

Dodds said: “Everybody liked him, on and off the pitch. He was one of those that got the fans out of their seats when he played and he was a great lad to have in the dressing room.

“It’s sad that he has gone, but he will always be welcome, and everybody still keeps in touch with him. It was a nice night and he was really choked up. It goes to show how much he was liked because there was that much support for him last night.

“He has been playing football since he was about five years old but he has now got to find a way to support his family and you can’t be down in the doldrums too much, he needs to think about supporting his family.

“He was one of those players who got the away fans booing and hissing a bit like he was a pantomime villain, but he was great to have on the pitch.”
