BIRCHALL POSITIVE

Midfielder looking for two good results away from home

Chris Birchall was as disappointed as anybody at the home defeat to Southend United on Saturday but he says the lads feel they can turn things around and get back on track.

With two away games coming up this week, starting with a trip to face Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night, Birchall says the team must now start to pick up a few results.

He said: “I know things haven’t been going well for us in the last few games but we are still confident and we are still second in the table. We have a game on Tuesday night so we need to bounce back as soon as we can.

“We expected to improve in the second half, though the lads said, that wasn’t difficult to do, but we need to scrape out a results really.

“Any kind of result will do, we just need to stay in that top three. The guys have done amazingly all season, and the fans have been behind us.

“They showed their disapproval at half time, but there was a few clapping at the end because they know that at least we gave it a go in the second half.

out and get a good result on Tuesday. “We were up for it and tried to get back into the game, so as long as the fans stay with us. It’s not all doom and gloom, we are second in the table and it is in our own hands, so hopefully we can go

“We have got to do it again on Tuesday and then again at York on Saturday and try and pick up results now. We have done so well all season and we have got to stay there.”

Chris is waiting to see what part he has to play in the match against Bristol City on Tuesday night, but says he feels fit enough to do a job.

He said: “Fitness levels only come with games, but I felt good out there to be honest. It is different when you come on at half time and try and get into the pace of the game. Starting a game is a bit easier than coming on.

“But I have played in a few reserves games so hopefully coming into Tuesday’s game I can do well, whether it is starting or coming off the bench.”
