LAST LEAGUE VISIT THERE:

The two sides haven’t met in the league since 1993, and the last time Vale visited Deepdale was way back in December 1992 in what was then called League Division Two, but what a game it was!

Vale were to taste success that season, finishing in third place behind Stoke and Bolton Wanderers, and they certainly showed their credentials in this game in the lead up to Christmas.

AN attendance of 6,038 watched on as Nicky Cross, Robin van der Laan, Ian Taylor, Andy Porter and Martin Foyle got the Vale goals in a remarkable 5-2 away victory.

VALE LINE-UP THAT DAY:

Paul Musselwhite, Simon Mills, Chris Sulley, Ray Walker, Peter Swan, Robin van der Laan, John Jeffers, Andy Porter, Nicky Cross, Martin Foyle, Ian Taylor. Subs not used: Paul Kerr, Keith Houchin
