A look ahead to tonight's pre-season game against the Foxes
Leicester City are the visitors to Vale Park this evening as Vale take on Championship opposition for the second time in eight days.
Nigel Pearson is expected to bring a strong side with him as both clubs step up preparations for the news season which is due to start in under two weeks time.
Yesterday he added Ivorian defender Zoumana Bakayogo to his squad. The full back had spent the previous four years with Tranmere Rovers.
Micky Adams’ plans have been scuppered somewhat with a growing injury list which sees Vale short in defensive roles.
This has prompted the Vale boss to start looking to add further signings as the disadvantage of a relatively small squad has been exposed.
Trialist Matthais Doumbe has agreed to stay to help out the club, and at the same time attempt to twist the manager’s arm into offering him a contract.
The Frenchman could well be joined by another trialist in the heart of the Vale defence as Micky finds himself with a shortage of centre halves to go with
lack of cover in both full back positions.
The injury situation has hampered training sessions set up to sharpen up defensive work, but Micky is pleased with the work done with the midfield and forwards.
The Vale boss is looking forward to taking on a former club, for whom he still has a place in his heart after spending time in charge of the Foxes and taking them to promotion.
His mind will be on his current club tonight and he will have one eye the opening fixture of the season when Brentford are the visitors to Vale Park.
Don’t forget, if you haven’t already done so, make sure you purchase a ticket for tonight’s match (kick off 7,30pm) – there will be no cash accepted on the turnstiles.
