Defender raring to go after joining

New signing Carl Dickinson is ready to give everything to ensure Vale enjoys a successful campaign back in League 1 next season.

The former Watford defender signed a one-year contract with the club ahead of the start of the new season a week on Saturday, and Dickinson revealed how manager Micky Adams sold his vision of Vale to him.

“I’m glad everything has got sorted and I can’t wait to hit the ground running, I am really looking forward to the season and come in and put my own stamp on it,” Dickinson told Valiant Player.

“I came to see Micky and we spoke and saw his vision of where he wanted the club to go.

“I wanted to be apart of that and I want to come and play football and keep my head down and make sure that when I do play games that I give 110 percent and make sure I play well,” he said.

With playing experience ranging from the Premier League to League 1, Dickinson will bring knowledge of Vale’s new league.

The 26-year-old said: “I can bring the experience I’ve played a lot of games in the Championship and in League 1 level so I know how the league works.

The versatile defender is determined to give everything out on the pitch for the Valiants and Derby-born defender believes his leadership and experience can help push Vale forward next season

“Hopefully I can come in and bring a presence, I am the kind of person who doesn’t want to leave anything on the pitch.

“I will always give everything and I’d like to think that I can bring hard work, I’d like to think I am a good defender,” he added.

“If I can come in here and be a presence in the changing room and a presence out on the pitch then that will help.”
