Vale sign Sheffield Wednesday midfielder
Port Vale has signed former Championship player Chris Lines on a one-year contract.
The central midfielder, 27, will link up with the rest of the squad for pre-season training after putting pen to paper on the deal with Micky Adams’ men. He is a free agent after having his contract cancelled by Sheffield Wednesday earlier this week.
Lines made 53 appearances for the Hillsborough side, including playing a pivotal role in the side which won promotion from League One to the Championship in 2012. He will be no stranger to Vale full-back Danny Jones, who also signed for Micky Adams from Sheffield Wednesday.
Adams said: “Chris is a tall, strong central midfielder who has a wealth of experience at this level. He will add something to our squad and I’m looking forward to him joining us.
“He has played in the Championship, in addition to League One and has also experienced promotion. That calibre of player can only be a bonus for the squad.”
