Defender ready for the Gillingham game if selected
New signing Darren Purse says he is ready and fit enough to step straight into the side this weekend if he is selected for the top of the table clash with Gillingham.
He said: “I missed the last two Plymouth games because of the situation and what was going on, but before that I played twenty three games so I am fit and raring to go.
“Obviously the gaffer has got a decision to make with the side that played at the weekend. I am a big believer in keeping a winning side, but if he does decide to change it I am willing and able if he wants to do that.
“I am a massive believer in my ability and I will continue to believe. Competition for places is always nice in a side that is going for promotion because if things aren’t working out then the manager can change things.
“I am under no illusions and if the gaffer wants to keep it the same there will be no complaints, you just have to bide your time and wait for your opportunity.
“When that opportunity comes along I will go out there and do my best, give one hundred per cent for the shirt and for the Port Vale fans and that’s all you can ask of a player.
Purse will have to wait to see whether or not he is selected of course, but he is aware of the size of the game at the Priestfield Stadium.
“It is going to be tough, they are a good side but looking at us at the weekend we are a very good side as well and if selected it will be a fantastic game to come in to and a nice to get your teeth into sooner rather than later.”
