Vale travel to MK Dons in a confident mood
Mark Grew says Vale don’t fear going to MK Dons on Saturday, despite tomorrow’s opponents being one of the best footballing sides in League One.
As they were last season, Vale have been impressive when on their travels and Vale’s Assistant manager doesn’t see any reason why that is about to change.
He said: “The Gaffer watched them a couple of weeks ago and Dean Glover watched them against Wolves last week and from the report he sent back, they are a good footballing side.
“They try to play it the right way – have it at the back and pass it around and it will be a real test for us, but it’s one we are looking forward to.
“It’s a lovely ground, a lovely setting, the pitch is in great condition so it is one I’m one I am looking forward to and seeing how the lads progress.
“We have looked at the stats this season and we have kept five clean sheets and every one of them has been away from home.
“That goes to show that we are difficult to beat and we don’t concede, but our away form has been good, there’s no question about that.
“Although we are looking at MK Dons, people will be looking at us as well, especially if they watched us against Walsall away.
“Walsall are probably one of the best footballing sides in the league alongside MK Dons and we more than matched them so against it is going to be a good test for us.
“The onus is on the home club to come at us and we are quick on the break – we have got players that can catch people out and we have done that on numerous occasions.
“We seem to sit in there and defend really well and catch them on the break and our finishing has been good away from home.
“It’s a different scenario when you play at Vale Park – the pitch is bigger and teams can sit in there. We have got to improve on our home form, but we have been really pleased with our away form.”
