Defender happy to be back playing after injury lay-off

Defender Daniel Jones returned to action at the weekend and he was relieved to get through it unscathed and is fighting fit and ready to go following w long lay-off.

He said: “Saturday was good, I enjoyed myself and it was the first time on a long time I have felt actually properly fit.

“The first time I came back I was alright, but you know yourself, you know your body and I rushed myself and I think that caused problems, but I have taken my time and I am alright now, I have had no reaction at all.

“I think I will be in better shape than in pre-season because if I get injured I see it as a little bit of a blessing in disguise because I get chance to work on other weaknesses in my body and I can rest and have some time for other things to heal.

“I had a big spell out when I was a Sheffield Wednesday when there were a lot of complications, but now I am fine, I am as right as rain and I know in myself I am happy.”

There is a lot of pressure on the players at this time of year but the defender manages to handle it well, with the help of his family and friends.

He says: “We come in and have got as job to do and most important is to get as many wins over the Christmas period as we can. It’s the most important part of the season because it can make or break you.

“It can be a difficult time when others around you are over-indulging, but it helps when it helps when your family understand and your friends, if you have good friends as I do.

“I am quite lucky like that, whereas other people might be persuaded to go out, my mates wouldn’t ask because they know I can’t and my family make arrangements around me, which is very good of them.”
