Vale reserves began their Central League Cup campaign with a hard earned victory at the Greenhous Meadow.
Sam Molyneux and Alex Fletcher both had shots that flew wide before Vale hit back with a Jordan Hugill header that went just over. Ryan Lloyd then went even closer after a great run from the half way line ended with a shot that hit the inside of the post.
