Micky has mixed feelings

Gaffer disappointed at cup exit but is pleased with effort and committment

Two games into the season and each of them a tough test for the Vale, but how does manager Micky Adams see things so far?

He said: “I think I have got mixed feelings about it. I am disappointed on reflection about getting knocked out of the cup, I thought we perhaps didn’t deserve that.

“The goals, as always were avoidable. The players have switched off and it has cost us and I think what is shows is that maybe some of the things you get away with at League Two level, you’re not going to get away with at League One level.

“The Brentford goal and the second goal the other night, they are right in the top corner and there’s nothing you can do about it really, other than leading up in the build-ups of both goals, defend them better.

“Am I pleased? Yes I am pleased with the effort and the commitment of the players. I think that they have shown that they are fit and they are ready.

“I am delighted with the response of the supporters, but it is another test for us on Saturday. It’s our first away game and we have got to see if we can get results away from home in a tough division”
