Vale lost 3-1 at Boundary Park on a damp afternoon.Adam Rooney gave the hosts the lead before Vale equalised through Jennision Myrie-Williams.
Vale could have gone into half-time 2-1 up but Lee Hughes' penalty was saved by Mark Oxley.
Rooney got his second of the match after half-time and James Datyon gave the Lactics a comfortable lead on 70 minutes.
