DODDS - WE HAVE GREAT CAMARADERIE

Midfielder hails togetherness

Vale midfielder Louis Dodds has hailed the togetherness of the Vale squad ahead of Saturday's final home match of the season against Northampton Town.

The 26-year-old said: “Everyone is cheering each other on and helping each other out in the changing room and wishing them luck.

“There is no ill-feeling towards anyone who is in someone’s position. I think we have great camaraderie and that should hopefully see us through.

“We all know where we want to be and what we want to achieve so whatever he (Micky Adams) picks and decides everyone agrees with and goes with it.”

Dodds has played in a variety of different positions this season but the Vale midfielder admits he doesn't care where he is playing as long as he helps the team.

“If you are in this team you don't really care where you play as long as you are helping and doing a job. I think we have been doing that the last few games.

“I played right-midfield on Saturday and was doing a lot of defensive work just to try and stop their attack play,” said Dodds.

On personal note midfielder Dodds has scored 7 League Two goals this season and created many more but the former Leicester City player has put emphasis on winning team performances over individual displays.

He said: “Obviously Tom Pope can't do the same things that I can do and likewise I can't do his.

“Sometimes I think I have sacrificed myself for the greater good of the team and hopefully I've done enough to help the team get to where they want to be.”

Dodds added: “This season I have enjoyed it, it has probably been one of my more consistent ones and I think I've had a lot more chances to really cement my place, I've really enjoyed it this season.

“I would have liked to have scored a few more but I think I’ve done a lot more unselfish play this season like covering for other players.”
