A look ahead to the trip to Home Park

Vale make the long trip down into Devon this weekend for a game against Plymouth Argyle at Home park, and they will be facing a familiar face.

The Pilgrims have been hit by injuries recently, forcing manager Carl Fletcher to dip into the loan market to bring in an experienced striker.

28-year-old Guy Madjo is a name familiar to all Vale fans. He made an impact when he was on loan at vale park last season and he was a player, alongside Jennison Myrie-Williams who Micky Adams wanted to sign.

When the Club went into administration, that put and end to that, and Madjo was soon snapped up by Aldershot. Myrie-Williams eventually joined Vale in the summer, of course.

Following last weekend’s emphatic victory against Rotherham United here at Vale Park, Vale players will be aware they must guard against complacency.

It is an old cliché in football, but they must take each game as it comes, and they have been warned to expect a tough encounter on Saturday.

The Pilgrims have had a tough start to the season, but a home win against Northampton Town, followed by a hard-earned point away to Torquay United last Saturday will have boosted their confidence.

Vale’s Assistant manager has already warned that they face a tough fixture at Home park, and Micky Adams will demand total professionalism from his squad.

Vale currently sit in third spot in League Two and they now play two away games within the space of four days, with a trip to Fleetwood on Tuesday to follow.

There are no new injuries, so the manager is expected to name an unchanged eleven for the seventh consecutive game.
