Goalkeeper reveals why he is backing Movember

Vale goalkeeper Chris Neal revealed why he is doing his bit for the Movember cause, growing a moustache to help with awareness and to help raise money for mens’ health.

He said: “It’s a great cause to raise money and I think the most important thing is to raise awareness about mens’ health in general and about Prostate Cancer.

“From a personal point of view, my grandad had Prostate Cancer so that is the main reason why I am joining in, but the more awareness the better.

“A few of the lads and staff around the club are joining in and the more the better. We have got a team on the Movember website, the Port Vale team, so the more money we can raise the better.

“Obviously it continues until the end of the month and then we will see how big we can get our ‘taches.

“Nationally it is massive. Other sportsmen around the country like Rugby League teams are taking part and it does raise awareness when you have got sportsmen taking part around the country.

“The only thing with my moustache is that I am quite fair, so it is quite hard for me to get a prominent moustache. I might have to put a bit of dye on it to make it stand out a bit.

I think Tom Pope and Richard Duffy will have good moustaches, but I don’t think Louis Dodds is going to get the best of moustaches to be honest

“It looks like it could get blown off in the wind, but he is giving it a go. Doddsy is our Movember team captain and he will be looking to raise as much money as he can.

“We get a bit of banter doing it all, but it is a great cause. You could end up looking a bit of an idiot, but it’s something you put up with for a month and it is all in a good cause.”
