The Valiants continued their unbeaten start in League Two with a 0-0 draw against Tranmere Rovers at Vale Park

The Vale started the better of the sides and had an early chance to take the lead as Rauri Paton found space on the edge of the box and fired a shot towards goal only to be blocked by a Tranmere defender and behind for a corner.

Tranmere had an excellent opportunity to take the lead with thirteen minutes gone, a defensive mix up allowed Omari Patrick through on goal but he was denied by an excellent recovery tackle from Tom Sang.

Shortly after it was the Valiants who came close again, Ronan Curtis this time received the ball and let fly from 18 yards coming within inches of the bottom left corner.

The chances kept on coming for Vale, a poor kick out from the Rovers keeper fell straight to the feet of Ethan Chislett who fancied his chances with the keeper off his line, but narrowly missed the target.

In the 72nd minute, Darren Moore made his first changes of the game with Jayden Stockley and Baylee Dipepa coming onto the field for Ethan Chislett and Ruari Paton.

With ten minutes to play, Tranmere came within inches of taking the lead when a corner whipped into the near post was flicked onto the crossbar and eventually put behind for a goal kick.

Vale responded with a chance of their own, Sam Hart put a dangerous cross into the Rovers box which was met by Jayden Stockley however, the striker’s header looped onto the top of the Tranmere net.
