John Rudge to be celebrated at AFC Wimbledon fixture

We're pleased to announce that next weekend's home game against AFC Wimbledon will give supporters a further opportunity to celebrate club legend John Rudge, following the official unveiling of his statue at Vale Park.

The game will be our first on home soil since Rudge's statue was unveiled, with supporters encouraged to come to Vale Park wearing their favourite Vale shirt from years gone by as part of an overall 'retro' theme.

Rudge will make his way to his newly unveiled statue at 12:15pm, joined by current first-team manager Darren Moore and co-owner Carol Shanahan, giving supporters a chance to capture a piece of history as Rudge stands by the statue erected in his honour - a fitting tribute to a man who shaped the club’s modern identity.

At 2:00pm, Rudge will head to the Fan Zone to meet supporters in a more relaxed setting near the statue.

Meanwhile, in the Valiant Suite, former Vale striker Tom Pope will be hosting a Q&A session with guests, offering insight into his career and discussing his time at the club. Rudge will also make an appearance in the Valiant Suite at 2:30pm.

At half-time, Rudge will take to the pitch for a special presentation in front of the Vale faithful. This will undoubtedly be one of the day’s highlights, giving supporters the chance to show their appreciation for a figure who has given so much to the club.

Official match and match ball sponsorship for the game is also still available, giving you the chance to play a special part in what is set to be a memorable day for everyone associated with the club. Please contact commercial@port-vale.co.uk for details.
